The early magazine covers were established in April of 1788 with the magazine name called "The Town and Country Magazine, it was the earliest Magazine that did not have covers on them. and people didn't want to to flip to get the information. It gave the people entertainment on what was happening through the town.. everyone in the town would be reading the news that was published in the late 1700's.
2. The Post Covers.

In the Post covers they had a looser way of doing covers that where upon the art and in the art it contained a small cover line introducing the theme, or even unobtrusive group of cover lines that vastly overshadowed by the art. The Leslie's Weekly, The Munsey, and Harper's weekly were the oversized by today's Standards. The cover was published in August 1898.
